Major depressive disorder (MDD), also known as clinical depression, is one of the most prevalent mental health conditions in the world. A professional diagnosis of MDD typically requires patients to have a consistently depressed mood accompanied by at least four of the following symptoms:
Brain imaging studies have revealed that major depressive disorder is associated with abnormalities in brain function and structure. These changes often impact the areas of your brain responsible for regulating mood, emotion, and behavior. At Lighthouse Mental Wellness, we recognize that depression and other mental health conditions involve both psychological and physical impacts, and our treatments are designed to help you achieve holistic wellness. If you have major depressive disorder, you may be eligible for NeuroStar TMS treatment.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is characterized by intrusive, persistent thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that can severely disrupt daily life, making even simple tasks like brushing your hair or dressing yourself difficult. Brain imaging studies have shown structural and functional differences in the brains of those with OCD, particularly in areas that regulate emotion and behavior. These differences contribute to the symptoms of OCD. At Lighthouse Mental Wellness, we recognize the challenges of living with this disorder and are dedicated to helping you explore treatment options that can improve your quality of life. If you or your loved one is suffering from OCD, NeuroStar may be right for you.
Patients with MDD with anxious depression face the combined challenges of both depression and anxiety and often experience the worst aspects of each. Alongside typical depression symptoms, they may also suffer from anxiety symptoms such as tension, restlessness, uncontrollable fear, and difficulty concentrating due to excessive worry. This dual diagnosis often leads to a poorer mental health prognosis and reduced quality of life compared to those with only depression or anxiety. If you have anxious depression, our specialists can help you find the best and safest treatment options for your needs. Speak to our mental health professionals today to discover if NeuroStar TMS is right for you.
